Nike’s commercials are worldwide sensations.
They are creative and relatable, and most importantly, they focus on the spirit of sportsmanship.
But I observed an interesting trend in all of Nike’s commercials: They don’t just focus on the wins.
In fact, most of their commercials focus on the journey, the grit, the determination, and the hard work that goes into training.
They show us athletes pushing themselves to their limits, making mistakes, and getting back up again.
They could easily show a marathon winner crossing the finish line with a beaming smile and call it a day.
But that’s not what they do.
The thought behind Nike’s widely celebrated campaigns is their core value of finding the athlete within all of us.
“If you have a body, you are an athlete.” Their mission statement is all about inclusivity and empowering people to push themselves.
And that is precisely what their commercials reflect.
Nike doesn’t just show us the finish line; they show us the journey.
Yes, it’s important to celebrate our wins. But it’s just as important, if not more, to focus on the journey. Because that is what makes us who we are.
