How StubHub Transformed From a Fan-Friendly Alternative Into a Corporate Scalping Cartel

We talked about this the other day—how the concept of corporate “extraction” is quietly ruining everything we love. Doug Stephens was talking about his book, The Future of Competitive Advantage? He made the powerful point that for the last 45 years, corporations have been trapped in a cycle of constant extraction—squeezing workers, exploiting the environment, and draining the capitalist system itself until there is “not a hell of a lot left to extract”.

The accountability test

Can the decision survive informed questions?

This idea asks leaders to move past activity, convention, and confident presentation. The test is what the claim changes, who can question it, and what evidence supports the decision.

In work & systems, accountability means making assumptions visible, naming an owner, and connecting the work to an outcome people can recognize. If the reasoning cannot be explained clearly, the system is not ready to scale.
