My practice · A working case study

A website that helps people decide.

I’m Jay Mandel, a New York–based consultant, author, and coach working nationwide. I’m applying the same discipline to my own website that I bring to client work: ask better questions, make the evidence visible, and turn the answer into a useful next step.

BASE3 helps frame the customer decisions. SingleFig supports the relationship and follow-through. This site brings my approach and work into view.

The question

Is this the right help for me?

Make the problem and approach clear.

The evidence

Show me the work.

Connect claims to examples and sources.

The next step

Let’s talk about my situation.

Keep the context and follow through.

The challenge

Plenty of work. A harder story to follow.

My writing, teaching, client work, media, and partnerships tell a connected story. The website needed to make that connection easier to see. A prospective client should be able to understand my approach, find relevant evidence, and decide if a conversation makes sense.

“What decision is this page helping someone make—and what evidence do they need?”

The question guiding this work.

The visitor’s questions

Connect a question to something useful.

Each path brings the visitor closer to understanding the work and assessing fit.

What changed on the site

From an introduction to an invitation.

01

A sharper introduction

The homepage leads with the real problem, the decision, and the work ahead. Curiosity, candor, and collaboration describe how I work with clients.

02

Proof you can inspect

Case studies, client perspectives, authorship, and former employment each have a clear place. My Mastercard role is presented as career experience.

03

Less effort to find a path

Five main navigation links give visitors a simple starting point: Services, Results, Writing, About, and Contact. Larger text and shorter sections make the story easier to scan.

04

Clearer content structure

Descriptive page titles, headings, internal links, and structured metadata state what a page covers. Search and AI visibility still need measurement.

How the pieces work together

The judgment. The framework. The tools.

The same discipline I bring to clients

Curiosity asks.
Candor clarifies.
Collaboration moves.

Marketing connects to leadership, data, incentives, ethics, and the experience a business actually delivers. My site should make that perspective understandable—and show how I stay involved as the work moves forward.

A few practical questions

What sits behind the story?

What does BASE3 contribute?

Wendy Wilder’s framework connects the decision someone is making, the information they need, and the channel that carries it. Here, that means asking what a prospective client needs to understand before taking the next step. It is a planning lens; a complete page-by-page classification remains work to do.

Where does SingleFig fit?

SingleFig is the relationship layer: contacts, business context, campaigns, and follow-up. The website helps someone assess fit; the relationship system supports what happens around the conversation. Software, setup, and ongoing support are separate choices.

What are the results so far?

The visible result is a clearer story, organized evidence, simpler navigation, and direct inquiry paths. This case study documents those changes. Qualified inquiries, conversion rates, revenue, and AI referrals would require separate evidence before I could report a gain.

Can this approach apply to my business?

Start with the questions your buyers ask, identify the evidence they need, and give them a useful next step. Flor Estevez and I offer a working website concept to make that direction concrete before scoping a full project.

What should your next visitor understand?

Bring the current site and the business problem. Flor and I can create a working concept, then agree on the research, content, and delivery the full project needs.
